We understand there are a million and one questions clients have when considering a new build or renovation - it's to be expected. And you might be surprised to learn it's not at all like it has been portrayed on TV. We're here to help dispel some of the myths around how it all works and what you can expect when you work with us.
Discovery Call + Meetup
This is where we get to know you, your project, and what you’re hoping to create.
We’ll talk through your goals, ideas, location, budget range, timeline, and any plans already in motion - whether you have a contractor or builder in place, or need support pulling the right team together. We’ll also ask about your past design or renovation experiences, what worked, what didn’t, and how our team can best support you through the process.
From there, we’ll meet in person to see the space when possible, review plans, and continue the conversation over coffee or a glass of wine. It’s a relaxed but important first step designed to give us a clear understanding of your vision, your needs, and how we can help make the process feel easier from the very beginning.
Project Kickoff + Planning
Once your initial payment is received, we get right to work gathering everything we need to begin designing with clarity and intention.
This phase may include a site measure, photography, plan review, and a deeper exploration of your aesthetic, goals, lifestyle, priorities, and overall vision for the project. We can also develop soft-cost budget projections to help guide future design decisions and keep the process grounded from the start.
If we’re helping assemble your project team, this is where we begin introducing you to our trusted network of trades and professionals. Timelines, deliverables, communication, and expectations are clearly outlined early, so everyone understands the path forward before the design work begins.
Materials, Fixtures +
Furnishings
To bring your design drawings to life, we thoughtfully source and select the materials, fixtures, finishes, and furnishings that shape the look, feel, and function of your space.
This phase includes curated selections for the details that matter - from tile, flooring, lighting, plumbing, hardware, and paint to furniture, styling, and finishing layers. Depending on the project, we may invite you into parts of the selection process at some point, while always ensuring you have a clear voice in the final decisions.
Once selections are complete, we prepare a detailed Builder Binder with the specifications needed to help move the project forward with clarity. And when it comes to furnishing and styling, we guide the process through to the final layers - helping you complete your home in a way that feels cohesive, personal, and beautifully finished.
Design Fee Proposal
Once we’ve reviewed your project scope in detail, we’ll prepare a clear, itemized design fee proposal tailored to your home, goals, and level of support required.
Your proposal outlines who we are, how we work, what to expect, and how your design fees are structured across each phase of the project.
Our pricing is typically based on a per-square-foot basis, adjusted according to the complexity of the work, the spaces involved, and the level of detail required.
The goal is simple: clarity from the beginning. You’ll understand the process, the investment, and the support included - with no surprises, no confusion, and a clear path forward before we begin.
Design Development + Drawings
This is where your vision begins to take shape in a more detailed and tangible way. During the design development phase, we create the initial CAD drawings, space plans, elevations, millwork details, and 3D renderings that bring together function, lifestyle, aesthetic direction, and project goals.
Every project is unique, so depending on the scale and complexity of the work, this phase typically takes anywhere from 8–16 weeks to develop the initial custom design package before we're ready to review with you.
Throughout this process, we stay connected with you as the design evolves - refining ideas, exploring possibilities, and preparing to present a thoughtful, highly personalized concept for your home or space.
Execute, Install +
Project Close
As construction moves forward, we work alongside your contractor or builder to help keep the design vision aligned, understood, and thoughtfully executed.
Through site visits, trade meetings, communication, and design-related coordination, we act as a liaison between you and the many moving parts of the project.
Behind the scenes, we may also be ordering, tracking, receiving, and coordinating delivery or installation of furnishings, decorative fixtures, and finishing details.
You’ll be in constant contact with us and receive regular progress updates throughout this phase, with our team helping manage the details, protect the integrity of the design, and guide the project toward a beautifully finished result - one we’re always excited to celebrate with you and the team at the very end.
